Alex Canelos is a graduate of Parsons School of Design where he studied illustration and figure drawing. His MFA was based on the practical use of Renaissance painting materials & techniques. His paintings have been exhibited at the First Street Gallery (New York City), St. John’s University (Queens), Indiana State University (Terre Haute), the Thomas Moser Showroom (New York City), the Roost Studio (New Paltz), and a number of national juried exhibitions. He has done illustration work for numerous publications, including The New York Times and Cook’s Illustrated magazine. He has taught figure drawing & painting at Colorado State University, color theory, design & painting at Pratt Institute, graphic design at SUNY New Paltz, and comic book illustration at the I’Raise youth organization in the Bronx.
