The Art Effect Expands Staff, Promotes Long-Time Instructor

The Art Effect is excited to announce two new staff members and a promotion. Jordan C. Sanford is the new Director of Artistic Advancement and Lauren Hollick joins the team as Director of Explore Programming. Rick Price will be taking over direction of the Summer Art Institute and the two most advanced Art Institute courses, Senior Project and Advanced Portfolio Development. Jordan C. Sanford comes to The Art Effect from Maryland Institute College of Art, where he was Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Coordinator of Baltimore City Diversity Initiatives. He helped review thousands of art portfolios throughout New York state, including those created by students of The Art Effect, and built model diversity initiatives. Jordan worked with The Art Effect’s Art Institute and its founder, Todd Poteet, for the past eight years through college presentations, Hudson Valley Regional Portfolio Day, and student support in the college application process. Jordan will be overseeing The Art Effect’s advanced-level Excel programs and ensuring artistic excellence throughout every level of programming. Lauren Hollick joins The Art Effect team on a full-time basis after being a beloved teaching artist in several programs over the years. She is an alum of The Art Effect’s Art Institute program, and most recently directed the successful launch of Ulster Arts Camp – New Paltz. Lauren will manage The Art Effect’s Explore programming, including Arts for Healing, Mobile Media Labs, Dutchess and Ulster Arts Camps, and the Empire After School Program with the Poughkeepsie City School District.  Rick Price will take over as Director of the Summer Art Institute. Having worked closely with Todd Poteet, the founding Director of the Art Institute, for the last 9 years, Rick will remain an advanced-course teacher during the school year, taking over Senior Project and Advanced Portfolio Development, and direct the Summer Art Institute in July and August.

Join The Art Effect in welcoming these outstanding leaders to the arts community in Poughkeepsie. It’s almost time for classes to begin and all three will be teaching courses this fall!
