Emma Schmidt
Teaching Artist, Digital Arts + Mixed Media Animation
Emma Schmidt is an artist living in the HV and a former student of the The Art Effect. She received her BFA in Painting and minor in Art History from Boston University in 2023. She’s exploring mixed media painting (acrylic, pastels, tissue paper, and oil), stop motion animation, casts/molds for animated characters, and dance performance work in her art practice. Her practice centers on investigating the physicality of bodily transformations in relation to emotional experience. Students in Emma’s JAI classes this summer will explore a variety of materials and formats when constructing their narratives and characters, and focus on the intricacies of worldbuilding in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional contexts.
