Poughkeepsie – Week 2 – Dutchess Arts Camp

Creativity thrives as campers explore their artistic abilities, games and play. Enjoy individual and collaborative art making experiences based on an engaging weekly camp theme. The overall theme for Dutchess Arts Camp is A Fun Funky Motown Summer! Experienced and friendly staff support hands-on art experimentation with a wide variety of artistic mediums including painting, sculpture, collage, animation, performance, and more. The pieces created at camp will portray original narratives connecting to each campers’ interests and lives. Week 2 Theme: "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.

Finished artwork and performances will be displayed in a final showcase on Friday in an open exhibition setting for campers to share with family and friends.

From discovering planets and outer space, artfully meditating on inner and personal space, finding the beauty of nature in our environment, to moving through space with rhythm and dance, Week 1 of DAC: Red Hook will focus on different ways to use art to explore ideas of SPACE!

From playing with natural and recycled materials, getting down and dirty with the four elements, creating sculptures from clay and found objects, to getting grounded through drumming and rhythm, Week 2 of DAC: Red Hook will use art to get down with the theme of DOWN TO EARTH!

Adventures in the Arts: Session 2

Get animated, dig into clay, paint imaginary worlds, and more in this all-encompassing arts class that takes young artists on a new creative adventure every week!  Each project explores a different medium or art concept while introducing children to the fantastical world of art.

Exploring Puppetry

Your young artist will learn how to design and hand-build different types of puppets using various sculptural mixed media materials. Watch the puppets come to life as students learn how to control their character’s voices, body language and movement through performance.
