Multi-Media Portraiture

Learn how to create compelling portraits across a variety of media, including acrylics, charcoal, pastels, and mixed media. This class will focus on human facial features and proportions, as well as techniques for capturing expressions and gestures. Students will investigate color, light, concept, and narrative, creating a body of work that reflects the artist's personal voice.

Students are required to bring their own sketchbook.

Portfolio in the Human Figure

Bring the human form to captivating life through in-depth figure work! In this class, artists will delve into color theory and value to create painted renderings of live nude models. Learn to develop dynamic compositions of figures within an interior space. Students will develop a heightened awareness of color, light, and form. Through working directly from observation, students will gain perspective on the intricacies of representational figurative art.

Foundations in Figure Drawing

New to figure drawing? In this class, you’ll learn the basics of observational figure drawing, with a focus on grasping the fundamentals of human anatomy and proportion as well as working from general to specific (gestalt theory) to capture lifelike poses and gestures. Students work primarily with charcoal and work with live nude models

A functional understanding of anatomy, gesture, and proportion is the foundation of any figural artwork. This class will help your portfolio stand out by learning to draw the human figure. Using a variety of materials and techniques, students will gain confidence in mark-making and grounding figures in dynamic compositions while working from a live nude model. You will develop an advanced understanding of how to render the human form while focusing on human anatomy, proportions, poses, and gestures.
Students are required to bring 9”x12” sketchbooks.
