Portfolio in 3D Art and Sculpture: Session 2

Students will create three-dimensional projects and learn about the many approaches to the art of sculpture, including assemblage, Plaster of Paris, carving‎, casting, modeling, nature sculpture, soft sculpture, and beyond! This class will cover several approaches to working in three dimensions, such as addition (combining different materials to create a form such as as assemblage, or collage of 3D materials), subtraction (removing material from a mass to create the form from an outside-In perspective), substitution (using a mold to shape materials), and manipulation (using malleable materials in ways that can be both additive and subtractive).

JAI Session 3 – In Person

Take your love of art to the next level in this program for middle school-aged students. Young artists will discover the power of creative self-expression while learning new skills in painting portraits and landscapes, creating 3-D sculptures, and experimenting with mixed media. Projects will be adaptable to the level and interest of each individual student.

Adventures in the Arts: Session 2

Get animated, dig into clay, paint imaginary worlds, and more in this all-encompassing arts class that takes young artists on a new creative adventure every week!  Each project explores a different medium or art concept while introducing children to the fantastical world of art.

Art Inspirations: Session 1

Young artists will use a variety of drawing, painting, and sculpting mediums to create artwork that represents their passions, emotions, and experiences inspired by artists & artwork they see while visiting the Samuel Dorsky Museum and sculptures on the SUNY New Paltz campus.

Exploring Puppetry

Your young artist will learn how to design and hand-build different types of puppets using various sculptural mixed media materials. Watch the puppets come to life as students learn how to control their character’s voices, body language and movement through performance.
