Poughkeepsie – Week 4 – Dutchess Arts Camp

The theme for Week Four is Trinkets & Treasures! This week of camp is all about nature's treasures. Students will draw and paint their collected trinkets, make leaf and bark prints, and create mixed-media terrariums!

Creativity will flourish as campers explore their artistic abilities, play games, and make lasting friendships at Dutchess Arts Camp! Your young artist will enjoy beautiful outdoor spaces, ceramic kilns, a theater, art studios, and other creative spaces! 

Our experienced and friendly Dutchess Arts Camp counselors and teaching artists will support fun, hands-on art-making with various mediums including painting, sculpture, ceramics, collage, animation, and performance, based on engaging weekly camp themes. The pieces created at camp will portray your child's individuality, tapping into each camper’s specific interests. 

Daily schedules include opening and closing circles, structured art instruction, snacks, lunch, and outside play. A weekly showcase will occur on the last day of each week of camp. The showcase is an opportunity for your camper to shine! All of their work from the week will be on display during the showcase and they’ll get to show off their learned performances to family and friends.

Interested in early drop-off and/or late pick-up? Early drop-off is available for an additional $25/day (no earlier than 8:15 AM). The theme for Week Two is Pixels & Prisms! Explore the wonders of art and science and where they intersect! Draw with sunlight, create digital animations, and craft colorful mobiles!

Creativity will flourish as campers explore their artistic abilities, play games, and make lasting friendships at Dutchess Arts Camp! Your young artist will enjoy beautiful outdoor spaces, ceramic kilns, a theater, art studios, and other creative spaces!

The theme for Week Three is Myths & Magic! Discover the magic of art! During this week of camp, students will collaboratively build a castle, magical creatures out of clay, and design their own fairy masks.

Illustration + Animation

In this 8 week animation class students will learn to animate and illustrate their own creatures and characters! Students will be guided through designing and building a stop-motion puppet, and animating on programs like Procreate while building creative confidence! Young artists will walk away with 2-3 projects and new fine art and animation skills!

Students are required to bring a sketchbook.

Poughkeepsie – Week 1 – Dutchess Arts Camp

The theme for Week One is Stars & Spacesuits! Students will blast off to space in our interstellar first week of camp, taking inspiration from the beauty of our universe with art projects like glow in the dark galaxy paintings, alien self-portraits, and paper mache space helmets. 

Creativity will flourish as campers explore their artistic abilities, play games, and make lasting friendships at Dutchess Arts Camp! Your young artist will enjoy beautiful outdoor spaces, ceramic kilns, a theater, art studios, and other creative spaces!

Digital Art + Illustration

In this 8 week course students will learn to illustrate and animate using digital software like Adobe and Procreate, experiment with new animation techniques, learn how to develop a collection of original characters/worlds and tackle independent projects. This class is ideal for students who want to learn how to make compelling works of art for professional and college ready digital art portfolios. Students will leave this course with 4-5 projects, including an independent project applying their new skills to their own ideas. Introductory and advanced students are encouraged to take this class.Students are required to bring a sketchbook.

This class prepares students for advanced programs like Summer Art Institute and Senior Project.

Adventures in Materials

Learn and play with clay, collage, painting and drawing materials! In this 6 week course, students will gain the confidence to make original works of art with new and interesting materials. Students will walk away with 3-4 playful 2D and 3D art projects and introductory knowledge of color theory, mark making and a wide range of materials.
