Paid Working Opportunities for Youth in Dutchess County Through The Art Effect Programming

Virtual Screenwriting + Sculpture Bootcamp Offer Paid Work For Dutchess County Youth

The Art Effect is offering two 10-day intensive workforce development programs to Dutchess County youth May 11 – 22, 2020. Paid “Bootcamps” for Screenwriting and 3D Design will take place remotely via Zoom Monday through Friday from 3:00 – 5:00pm for youth ages 14-19 and will pay participating youth minimum wage for their time.

The Spark Studios: Online Screenwriting Intensive will focus on the fundamentals of writing screenplays across multiple genres of film and crafting compelling stories for the cinematic medium. Scripts will be drafted for potential production during the summer youth employment program.

The MADLab: Online 3D Design Bootcamp will concentrate on the principles of sculpture and working in three dimensions, as well as the role of public art in shaping communities. Youth will develop concept sketches for public art sculptures which will be created and installed by Art Effect youth later this year.

“As our world has shifted even more into a digital realm during this crisis, we continue to offer relevant and engaging opportunities for young people to gain skills and build connections with their peers. These two bootcamps offer incredible opportunities for youth to continue learning and building workforce skills,” says Nicole Fenichel-Hewitt, Executive Director of The Art Effect.

Both intensives will feature group meetings via Zoom on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, and one-on-one “virtual lab” time Tuesdays and Thursdays. Maximum capacity for each program is 15 youth. To apply for either intensive, please complete the application form here: https://forms.gle/eDkkSWSunv9CmsVq8
