This award celebrates exceptional creative talent in students from grades 7-12 across the country. The American Visions award is among the most selective of the Scholastic prizes, recognizing work with “an original authentic {vision}.”

Juliana first participated in The Art Effect’s programming in 2021 at the Summer Art Institute and has been developing her portfolio through various courses since then. Juliana is a member of The Art Effect’s chapter of the National Art Honor Society. Her work has been exhibited at the Trolley Barn Gallery in the Senior Projection Exhibition (online gallery can be viewed here) and Is It Me?, on view until April 14. Her work combines acrylic painting, sculpture, and mixed media, and explores themes of solitude and connection. Juliana will be honored at Carnegie Hall in June.

“Juliana’s paintings are explosively creative yet remain sophisticated, well beyond her years. The Art Effect is privileged to watch her evolve and grow into a great painter,” says Morgan Suter, studio manager, and teaching artist at The Art EFfect’s Art Institute. This year, the work of fourteen students from The Art Effect was recognized on a national level with three Gold Keys, seven Silver Keys, and ten honorable mentions. National winners were given distinction and opportunities for scholarships to help further their artistic pursuits. Learn more about the Scholastic Art Awards here

Through the Art Institute, The Art Effect inspires and motivates students to pursue higher education and careers in visual and media arts. Students are encouraged to hone their artistic skills in a variety of mediums, develop college portfolios, and pursue external opportunities– which include meeting with college representatives, curating and displaying their work in public exhibitions, working with local organizations to create commissioned projects in public spaces, and submitting to competitions such as the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
